O padre de Štip, cidadezinha da Macedónia, atira sempre em Janeiro uma cruz de madeira ao rio, e boa sorte e prosperidade terá o homem que a apanhar. Desta vez, Petrunya mergulha na água e consegue apanhar a cruz antes dos homens. Os seus competidores ficam furiosos - como se atreve uma mulher a participar no seu ritual? A situação explode, mas Petrunya não cede. Ela ganhou a cruz e não desistirá dela. O que lhe fará, é o que iremos ver. In Štip, a small town in Macedonia, every January the local priest throws a wooden cross into the river and hundreds of men dive after it. Good fortune and prosperity are guaranteed to the man who retrieves it. This time, Petrunya dives into the water on a whim and manages to grab the cross before the men. Her competitors are furious - how dare a woman take part in their ritual? All hell breaks loose, but Petrunya holds her ground. She won her cross and will not give it up.
