With its first editon last year, Travessias is a multifaceted space, combining film screenings with a series of activities related to the issues of refugees and forced migration. This special section aims to call the attention to the problem of the refugees and forced migrations.

We have extended this year’s Travessias to encompass extraordinary movements, forced and voluntary, past and present – of people – between places; the aspirations people carry and the dreams that motivate them.

Part of the Travessias non-competitive section are the two exhibitions in the foyer, as well as the two debates Friday and Saturday at 6pm. The films in this section are in competition for the Travessias Award,  in a partnership with the Pelouro dos Direitos Sociais of the City Municipality.
