Nota da Realizadora Director's statement

HOW TO SWIM is a story about a young woman who is about to become a mother for the first time. She goes on one afternoon journey with a stranger to fulfill the missing part in her life that is impossible to complete. I lost my mother almost 8 years ago, and after she died, I thought someone will "adopt" me, take responsibility over me, but I had to learn very fast that no one is interested in being my mom. This endless need to have a mother figure in my life led me to tell this story. There was nothing funny about losing my mother, yet the film deals with death with humor and fun. I can't get death out of my life, as I can't get humor out of my life, and the two has to live together.
